Petra Acitya’s Indonesian Independence Day celebration this year was special. The big family of Petra Acitya, starting with teachers, staff, students and also parents, all joined in this online event. All the participants wore red and white attire. A special Zoom virtual background was designed by the Student Council.

The event, which was held on Monday, August 16, was started with a fellowship. Petra Acitya’s big family united their hearts in prayer. They prayed for Indonesia’s front liners during this pandemic era and the health care team. The representatives of parents and students also prayed for Petra Acitya and the health of people who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the fellowship, Amadeus Adiwijaya, S.Hum. read a poem by Sapardi Joko Damono to help the big family of Petra Acitya reflect through this hard time. After that, Dimitri Januar Bawole, S.Si-Teol. shared God’s blessings that have been experienced by everyone, before and during the pandemic situation. He invited all members of Petra Acitya’s big family to take a look at the previous Independence Day Celebrations and reflect on it. He also encouraged them to have a good spirit and to not give up on serving one another through this season of life.

After finishing the fellowship, students enjoyed a fun Independence Day quiz, led by the Student Council. Then, the Student Council presented a performance of Indonesian cultural diversity. The Student Council hoped, through this event, the participants’ patriotism could be enhanced.

As a closing remark, the winners of the Indonesian Independence Day competitions were announced. Praise the Lord that the event ran smoothly. Parents, students, teachers and also staff enjoyed the online event. Even in this difficult time, the big family of Petra Acitya once again was reminded to be a blessing for others in need and flourish through it.
