On Friday, August 18, 2023, Petra Acitya Christian Junior High School celebrated Indonesian 78th Anniversary. This special event involved the entire school community in a variety of exciting competitions.

One of these competitions was called “Make it Blind,” which challenged students to apply make-up with their eyes closed. Despite the difficulty, students displayed their creativity by producing interesting and unique makeup looks. Another competition was the Indonesia Singing Time competition (Waktu Indonesia Bernyanyi), which tested students’ singing abilities and enthusiasm for preserving Indonesian culture through local songs. The “Bouquet of Celebration” competition combined decoration skills with creativity in arranging and decorating snacks into an attractive bouquet. Additionally, students participated in the “Acitya’s Independence Diary” competition by recording and uploading videos about independence celebration activities at Petra Acitya Christian Junior High School. Lastly, the “Rally Games” competition tested students’ speed, accuracy, and cooperation in various traditional games that represent the spirit of the struggle for independence. The participants were students from grades 7, 8, and 9, who were enthusiastic and supportive of one another.

This year’s independence theme, “Terus Melaju untuk Indonesia Maju,” was celebrated at Petra Acitya Christian Middle School by not only commemorating independence but also strengthening the spirit of nationalism and togetherness among students to build a better Indonesian nation in the future. The school successfully created a festive and proud atmosphere, inspiring students to continue to excel and contribute to the nation’s growth.
